Sen. Drilon to Keynote in Upcoming Iloilo Investment Forum

Senator Franklin M. Drilon is set to give a keynote message in the opening program of the Iloilo Investment Forum on December 9, 2020 in Iloilo City.

The overall theme of the Iloilo Investment Forum is anchored on “Reimagining Iloilo’s Next Economy” as the Province and City of Iloilo are now moving forward to regain its growth from the impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Organized by the Iloilo Provincial Government, the Iloilo City Government and the Iloilo Economic Development Foundation, Inc. (ILEDF), the investment forum is structured as a series of business conferences and meetings. All preliminary events will take place from December 2020 up to February 2021 and it will culminate in an International Investment Forum calendared by the organizers to happen on March 2021.

The two-half day business conference from December 9 to 10 is organized in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (DA-VI), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-VI), Department of Tourism (DOT-VI) and the Department of Interior and Local Government-Local Governance  Local Regional Resource Center 6.

The event is designed to comply with the prevailing health protocol requirements; hence, it will have a combined component of an on-venue activity and online session through Zoom and with a livestreaming through Facebook.

Opening session of the forum

Senator Franklin M. Drilon’s keynote is expected to highlight on “Restarting and Sustaining Iloilo’s Economy.” The Ilonggo Senator will be joined by Iloilo Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. who will talk on the topic: “Putting Agriculture and Fisheries at the Heart of Iloilo’s Economic Recovery” and by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas who will focus on “Harnessing Metro Iloilo’s Assets for Economic Recovery.”

The opening program will also have the messages of  Engr. Terence S. Uygongco, chairman of ILEDF and Dr. Louie S. Tirador, the vice-chairman of the Iloilo Investment Board.

The first day session will be capped by two thematic topics, namely: “Opportunities in Agriculture + Business” by Buen S. Mondejar of POPA Agriculture Cooperative and “Opportunities in Agri-Tourism” by Engr. Eddie P. Cañuto, president of Ephrathah Farms.
