75 Uswag Scholars Latin honorees cited

The Iloilo City Government honored 75 USWAG scholars who graduated with Latin honors during a recognition ceremony at the Ker & Co. Ltd. Building on September 3, 2026.

The city produced one summa cum laude, 33 magna cum laude, and 41 cum laude awardees, each receiving cash incentives and certificates.
Mayor Raisa Treñas emphasized that the recognition is not only for academic excellence but also for resilience.

“We do not just celebrate your Latin honors. We celebrate your discipline, hard work, faith, and determination, the values that carried you through challenges and brought you here today,” said the city mayor.

She added that the scholarship program has enabled students who once struggled with school requirements to continue their studies and graduate with honors. These success stories, she stressed, highlight the need to strengthen the program, expand opportunities, and ensure that financial challenges never hinder the dreams of Ilonggo youth.
