Iloilo City Launches MediSen+ Program Providing Free Maintenance Medicines to Seniors, PWDs
The Iloilo City Government has officially launched the MediSen+ Program, a new initiative that will provide free maintenance medicines to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the city.
The program was formally launched on August 3, 2026, as part of the city government’s efforts to strengthen support and healthcare services for vulnerable sectors.
Mayor Raisa Treñas said MediSen+ represents a significant step toward ensuring that senior citizens and PWDs receive the assistance and services they need, particularly for their continuing medical needs.
The city government has allocated ₱20 million for the program, which will be used to provide free maintenance medicines to qualified beneficiaries.
Aside from the distribution of medicines, Treñas also shared plans to make the program more accessible to beneficiaries who may have difficulty going to health facilities.
The city government plans to conduct house-to-house visits for bedridden beneficiaries, allowing them to receive assistance and medicines directly in their homes.
The mayor also announced plans to add facilities to the city’s Physical Rehabilitation Center to better serve senior citizens and support their rehabilitation and mobility needs.
According to city records, there are more than 40,000 registered senior citizens in Iloilo City, including around 9,000 pensioners.
With the MediSen+ Program, the city government aims to ease the financial burden of maintenance medication while bringing healthcare assistance closer to senior citizens and PWDs—particularly those who need continued treatment and support.
The initiative forms part of the city government’s broader efforts to promote a more inclusive and responsive healthcare system for Iloilo City’s aging population and persons with disabilities.
