Once again, Iloilo City has proven that world-class cities can be built through shared discipline, pride, and love for home.

Mayor Raisa Treñas proudly received the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award, a prestigious regional honor that recognizes cities across Southeast Asia for excellence in cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and tourist-friendly urban management.

Joined by Engr. Neil Ravena, Department Head of the City General Services Office, the recognition highlights Iloilo City’s sustained efforts to remain clean, green, and welcoming—not just for visitors, but most importantly for Ilonggos themselves.

“Ini nga dungog nagapakita sang padayon nga commitment sang Iloilo City Government sa pag-maintain sang kalimpyo, katahum, kag sustainable nga turismo sa syudad sang Iloilo,” Mayor Treñas shared, emphasizing that the award is a reflection of collective action rather than government effort alone.

A Win Built by the People

From disciplined waste segregation and well-maintained public spaces, to greener streets and responsible tourism programs, Iloilo City’s transformation has been shaped by everyday choices of its people. The mayor credited Ilonggos for their cooperation, concern, and active participation in clean and green initiatives that protect the environment while preserving the city’s natural and cultural charm.

“Nangin posible ini tungod sa inyo pagpalangga kag pagbuylog sa aton mga clean and green initiatives,” she said, underscoring that civic pride plays a vital role in sustaining progress.

Cleanliness as a Culture

More than an award, the ASEAN Clean Tourist City recognition affirms Iloilo City’s identity as a place where cleanliness is a shared culture—visible in orderly streets, thriving public spaces, and a cityscape that balances growth with sustainability.

“What a clean and beautiful city we have,” Mayor Treñas added, calling on Ilonggos to continue working together so the city remains malimpyo kag maanyag for both residents and visitors.

As Iloilo City steps once more onto the global stage, the message is clear: when a community works as one, excellence follows.
