Treñas, DOJ chief meet to boost justice delivery in Iloilo City

Iloilo City Mayor Raisa S. Treñas welcomed Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Fredderick “Eric” A. Vida at City Hall on Wednesday, April 8.

Secretary Vida said he and Mayor Treñas mainly discussed the proposed construction of a prosecution office in the city, as well as “solutions to common problems” to better serve the public.

“Ang isa naming napag-usapan is how we can provide offices for the Regional, City, and Provincial Prosecution Offices. Kasi at the end of the day, the city LGU and the DOJ, iisa lang ang constituencies. We cater to the same people who deserve to get efficient and effective public service,” he said.

The city government committed to provide the lot, while the DOJ will seek funding from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for the construction.

The Secretary of Justice is in Iloilo City to grace the 35th National Convention of the Prosecutors’ League of the Philippines, Inc.
