Iloilo City Ushers in 2026 with Call for Compassionate Governance
Iloilo City formally welcomed 2026 with a renewed commitment to compassionate, purpose-driven governance during its first flag-raising ceremony of the year, led by Mayor Raisa Treñas alongside city councilors, department heads, and employees of the Iloilo City Government.
In her address, Mayor Treñas expressed renewed energy and determination as the city enters another year of public service, emphasizing that a shared commitment among government workers is essential in delivering meaningful service to Ilonggos.
“Lain gid kon ang aton commitment isa lang—para magserbisyo. Every day, ginaliwat-liwat ko gid: ari kita sa gobyerno para magserbisyo sang matuod kag insakto,” Mayor Treñas said, calling on city officials and employees to continue serving with compassion, purpose, and integrity.
The ceremony was facilitated by the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO), which led the first flag ceremony of the year.
Mayor Treñas also highlighted that returning to work at the start of 2026 was made more meaningful by the city’s recent recognition as a Hall of Fame awardee for Best Performing Information Office, along with the citation of Jeehan Fernandez as Best Performing Information Officer. The awards, she said, serve as both recognition and motivation to further raise the standards of public service in the city.
Looking ahead, the mayor described 2026 as a year of “bigger actions,” with new programs and expanded initiatives lined up to usher Iloilo City into a new chapter of development.
“Subong nga tuig, we welcome ang bag-o nga chapter sang aton syudad—madamo kita plano kag programa, kag mas dalagko nga aksyon ang aton himuon agud ma-achieve ini tanan,” she said.
As Iloilo City begins the year, Mayor Treñas reaffirmed the city government’s resolve to continue building a vibrant and thriving community, guided by compassion, integrity, and a genuine commitment to serve all Ilonggos.
