Mayor Raisa Treñas has ordered tighter security measures across Iloilo City as local authorities recorded multiple bomb threats affecting schools and establishments since last week.

The Mayor met with ICPO Director PCol. Kim Legada, RACU-6 Head PLCol. Richard Habawel, NBI-6 Regional Director Atty. Jeremiah Salgado, and NBI-6 Assistant Regional Director Atty. Arnold Diaz to coordinate a unified response to the threats, many of which were sent through social media pages and SMS.

Mayor Raisa emphasized the need for immediate reporting of any bomb threat to NBI-6 and RACU-6 so authorities can quickly assist and verify such messages. With the capabilities of modern cyber tools, she said those responsible for spreading hoax threats can be identified and charged.

“Ginaseryoso naton ini nga mga bomb threats. With the advent of technology, ma-identify ang nagapalapta sang bomb hoax, kag ginasiguro naton nga ang responsable sini makasuhan sang otoridad,” the mayor said.

Security Measures Intensified

The mayor ordered all establishments, government offices, schools, and areas of convergence to strengthen their security setups. She also instructed the Iloilo City Police Office to increase police visibility and presence, and to review security protocols in malls, offices, and other crowded areas.

“Our ICPO is on top of the situation,” she said.

Mayor Raisa also reminded students to go straight home when classes are suspended due to threats and avoid crowded places to reduce unnecessary risk.

P100,000 Reward for Identification of Suspects

Amid the series of disruptions in both public and private schools, the Iloilo City Government announced a ₱100,000 reward for anyone who can help identify individuals behind the threats.

“We are serious about this. Indi lang ini isyu sang pagtuon sang kabataan, kundi isyu man sang seguridad sang bilog nga siyudad,” Mayor Raisa stressed.

Close coordination among ICPO, RACU-6, and NBI continues as authorities track the digital origins of the threats and work to maintain public safety.
