Iloilo City inaugurates 9th ICARE Center in Tabuc Suba, Jaro
Another boost to community preparedness and emergency response efforts, the Iloilo City Action and Resilience (ICARE) Center was inaugurated in Brgy. Tabuc Suba, Jaro District, on April 1.
It is a promise fulfilled, according to Mayor Raisa Treñas, who recalled how the network of ICARE Centers has grown since its inception during the time of former mayor Jerry Treñas.
“Ang akon nakita, kay pirme ako present kon may disaster ukon calamity, dako gid nga bulig ang aton ICARE Center. Amo na nga diri sa Iloilo City, madasig ang aton response. Mahapos kay isa na lang ka instruction, hulag na dayon tanan,” said Mayor Raisa.
Located in Bankers Village, the center has an estimated floor area of 600 square meters under a usufruct agreement and stands on a 3,200-square-meter lot.
The ICARE Tabuc Suba will house the Iloilo City Police Station 3, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
Joining the event were PCol. Wilbert Parilla, OIC of the Iloilo City Police Office; Iloilo City Fire Marshal Melanie Habawel; Councilors Miguel Treñas, Nene Dela Llana, Rommel Duron, and Irene Ong; representatives from the Bankers Village Homeowners Association; and the Jaro Association of Barangay Captains.
This is the ninth facility, in addition to ICARE Centers in So-oc, Arevalo; Ungka and Balantang, Jaro; Calumpang, Molo; Tanza-Esperanza, City Proper; Nabitasan, La Paz; the Central Command Center at ICC Gaisano; and Megaworld, Mandurriao.
Mayor Raisa also inaugurated the tenth ICARE Center in Taal, Molo on the same day.
“Ginapasalig ko gid nga ang aton opisina kag ang Iloilo City Government will continue expanding its services and strengthening our programs to build a safer, stronger, and more resilient Iloilo City,” she said.
To recall, Iloilo City received the Excell Award for disaster resilience in 2025, conferred by the DILG, in recognition of its ICARE Centers.
