The Iloilo City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Raisa Treñas, continues its initiative to strengthen health preparedness and protection in the communities through the distribution of health emergency kits to barangays. This program is part of the city’s Atipan Center, which focuses on caring for and safeguarding the well-being of every Ilonggo.

According to Mayor Treñas, the health emergency kits contain essential equipment such as Pulmo Aide for asthma patients and BP apparatuses that are vital in responding to emergency situations at the barangay level.

“As of now, 153 out of 180 barangays have already received their health emergency kits. The remaining barangays that already have existing equipment will also receive theirs soon,” Mayor Treñas said.

The City Government also plans to distribute oximeters and infrared thermometers next to complete the health emergency kits for all barangays across the city.

Mayor Treñas emphasized that preparedness goes beyond having the equipment—it requires proper training and awareness. “I believe it’s even more important that we continue to strengthen barangay-level training,” she said. Together with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the city is training families on what to do during disasters or emergencies.

The mayor also highlighted the ongoing expansion of health services through health centers staffed with duty doctors and the presence of Uswag Pharmacies in every district, which provide free medicines. Some medicines are also covered under the PhilHealth Konsulta Program.

“We will continue to listen, assist, and respond to the needs of every barangay. True public service means caring for the people,” said Mayor Raisa Treñas.
