75 Market Vendors Graduate from Uswag Negosyo Academy
Seventy-five public market vendors proudly graduated recently from the Uswag Negosyo Academy (UNA), a program designed to enhance the skills and business capabilities of local micro-entrepreneurs. Each graduate received a Certificate of Completion along with ₱5,000 in additional capital to support and expand their businesses.
Mayor Raisa Treñas emphasized the importance of the program in uplifting vendors as the city continues improving and modernizing its public markets.
“When we conceptualized this, I said that if we are building new and better markets, our vendors should level up as well. We prioritized you because you are truly valued,” Mayor Treñas said.
The completion ceremony recognized participants from the 19th and 20th batches of UNA, representing vendors from various public markets across the city:
- 10 from Jaro Small Market
- 22 from Iloilo Central Market
- 13 from Iloilo Terminal Market
- 13 from La Paz Market
- 8 from Arevalo Market
- 8 from Jaro Big Market
- 3 from Mandurriao Market
Graduates also received training kits containing materials from the lectures. The program covered key topics critical to business growth and market professionalism, including Business Registration, Work Ethics, Food Safety and Handling, Good Housekeeping, Customer Service, Digitalization, Life Lessons, Financial Literacy, Simple Record Keeping, and Consumer Rights and Responsibilities.
In total, participants completed six intensive training sessions focused on business operations and market management—equipping them with stronger foundations to grow their micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The Uswag Negosyo Academy is made possible through the collaboration of the City Government’s Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (LEDIP) Office and the Local Economic Enterprise Office (LEEO).
